LE POTAGER DES GOURMETS

Le Potager des Gourmets is our Organic Garden business which specializes in herbs, salads and edible flowers (certified organic since 1999 by ECOCERT).

The story so far…..

After we settled at La Collardiere in 1994 and turned various farm buildings into holiday homes, Michael wanted to realise his dream of having an Organic Garden business, since he is a trained gardener.

With spade, fork and wheelbarrow we got rid of 6ft high brambles,
nettles and bracken and turned a former cow pasture into a potager
- a back-breaking job for both of us. Over the years the cold frame,
made of old windows, has been replaced by a polytunnel
(a wedding present from friends and family) and a greenhouse.

“Selling herbs to the French” seemed at the beginning a mad idea, but very much to our surprise the restaurants we approached were very enthusiastic.

We now supply a large range of very fresh, common and unusual plants to a handful of local restaurants.

Le Manoir du Lys

The recent gardening boom in France has brought a lot of interest from private gardeners in our plants. As a result we have increased slightly the nursery side of our business.
We are not only giving day courses in herbs and edible flowers, but also we are developing the nursery side of our business.

beautiful perennial, use petals in salads and buds in vinegar
